COVID-19 UPDATE & GOVERNMENT RESPONSE
|
Effective March 11, 2022:
- Face coverings will be optional for people in all indoor public settings.
- Individual businesses and organizations can choose to continue to require mask-wearing on their premises.
- Indoor common area mask requirements for employees as part of the Workplace Safety Order will no longer be required. Employers may choose to continue to require wearing masks for operational reasons or in certain settings.
- Masks are encouraged on public transit and BC Ferries but are no longer required under public health orders.
Effective April 8, 2022:
- Proof of vaccination will no longer be required to access businesses, events, and services
- Individual businesses and event organizers can choose to continue requiring proof of vaccination for entry
- Proof of vaccination is still required for federally regulated travel, like air travel
- Businesses will no longer need a COVID-19 safety plan. They must follow communicable disease guidance from WorkSafeBC

New Spring Campaign – Submit Your Special Offers
As we head into peak season with the return of travel and cruise, we want you to be involved in Destination Vancouver's new campaign.
Our spring campaign, launching in April, will promote Vancouver to BC, Alberta, and Ontario audiences, as well as to Washington State.
We invite our attraction, event, sport, hotel, culinary, wellness, and arts & culture members to share new or updated special offers for this promotion, by emailing our Marketing Agency. These could include offers such as discounts, value-add, third night free, or any offer that encourages a sense of urgency (such as inclusive of event tickets), greater spend (through incentivized activity consumption), or longer stay (through rewards or savings). Full-day and multi-day touring and sightseeing product is also encouraged, particularly for experiences that are themed around wellness, culinary, arts and culture, and anything quintessential Vancouver.
When submitting a new or updated offer, please provide:
- Offer name
- One-sentence offer description
- Photo
- URL
- Offer expiration date (if applicable)
If you have spring-themed products or experiences, please send that information as well. More to come on specific campaign concepts and themes. Please also ensure your member listings are up-to-date, including the COVID-19 Amenity updates (via the Member Extranet).

Clean BC Commercial Vehicle Pilot Program (CVPP)
The CleanBC Go Electric Commercial Vehicle Pilots (CVP) Program intends to encourage and accelerate the adoption of commercial zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). It is for B.C.-based businesses, non-profits, local governments, Indigenous communities, and eligible public entities looking to deploy ZEV technology in commercial applications along with supporting infrastructure.
- $11 Million in funding available
- Will provide up to 1/3 of total project costs for ZEV deployments or infrastructure
Funding is available for a wide range of Zero Emissions Fleets including
- For on-road Class 3-4 (minimum 6 ZEV)
- For on-road Class 5+6 (minimum 3 ZEV)
- For Class 7+8 and off-road, no minimum
- For aircraft
- For rail transportation
- For boats and marine transportation
- For off-road and industrial use

The BC Hospitality Foundation (BCHF) is pleased to announce the dates of this year’s fundraising golf tournaments. Each of the tournaments offers a full day of food, drink, and enjoyment. Players partake of bites and beverages at many holes, there are tee prizes and putting contests, and a light breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. The events are a great way to connect with old friends or to expand your network, as they bring together many members of the local hospitality community. It’s been 2 long years: let’s get our industry together to swing together!
The BCHF was formed on the idea that the hospitality community works together to help our own, and there are numerous ways for local businesses to support the fundraisers:

- Attending the tournaments is a great way to network or to build your team! Tickets will go on sale online shortly; tickets for each tournament will be $230 per golfer
Proceeds from the tournaments will support the work of the BCHF, which provides assistance for hospitality workers in financial crisis due to serious health conditions, as well as operating a scholarship program that fosters the next generation of hospitality industry leaders.

Meetings & Conventions – Generating Business in Today's World

MARCH
March 23 - 25, 2022| Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, National Harbor, Maryland
Inaugural event aimed at bringing the global events industry to the U.S. Capital region and consolidating several important annual gatherings (see below) into one week. Destination Vancouver is a partner/sponsor for both the IAEE Women’s Leadership Forum and the PCMA Visionary Awards.
- Destinations International’s Convention Sales and Services Summit will be held Wednesday, March 23, as will a series of PCMA leadership meetings.
- PCMA Foundation’s Visionary Awards will be held Thursday, March 24.
- IAEE’s Women’s Leadership Forum will also be held Thursday, March 24.
- Destination Showcase, a joint one-day tradeshow/venture between Destinations International and PCMA since 2019, will be held Friday, March 25.
This trip will also include appointments with high-priority clients and industry partners. Jackie Kavcak and Royce Chwin will be attending in person on behalf of Destination Vancouver, joined by the Vancouver Convention Centre.

SITE is a professional association of 2,500 members located in 90 countries, working in corporations, agencies, airlines, cruise companies, and across the entire destination supply chain. SITE brings value to its members at both the global and local chapter level through education, B2B connections, networking, online resources, industry certification, and advocacy. Each year the global conference brings the SITE community together to learn, grow, share and celebrate the incentive industry. Vancouver very successfully hosted this event in January 2020 with record attendance. We are a partner/sponsor at the 2022 conference along with Destination Vancouver is a partner/sponsor at the 2022 conference along with Destination Canada Business Events and Cantrav.
