DESTINATION VANCOUVER QUARTERLY PROGRESS REPORT (QPR) - Q4 2021

To keep you updated on the work that we're doing as Team Vancouver, we have created a new Quarterly Report that highlights initiatives and resources to support your business, led by our team.

COVID-19 UPDATE & GOVERNMENT RESPONSE

  • The B.C. government's 2022 budget earmarks $25 million in funding to support the tourism sector's continuing recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional funding is also being provide to support non-profit organizations affected  the pandemic and the recovery of the arts, culture and music sectors through the Arts Impacts and Amplify BC program.

Tourism industry welcomes easing of restrictions in time for expected peak season

“That is absolutely significant,” said Royce Chwin, CEO of Destination Vancouver, a tourism industry association. “We’ve got 317 ships scheduled to come to Vancouver in 2022 and that is worth $2.2 billion in economic activity in Vancouver. That will be a big driver to get back to the $14 billion that tourism generates in Metro Vancouver."
