Advocacy Request
The Hotel Association of Canada’s "Roadmap to Recovery" launched today which is a 3 point plan to build the sector back to pre-pandemic levels. Their goal is immediate action on priority #1 and strong commitments in the Federal Budget on priorities #2 and #3.
In short, we are asking for:
- Reopen: Announce a fully opened border immediately
- Survive: Transition the Tourism & Hospitality Recovery Program (THRP) to a Bridge Program until summer 2022
- Compete: Commit to a dedicated tourism and hospitality labour strategy
We ask that you send a pre-populated letter to your Member of Parliament to support this work.

Destination Vancouver is adding to the team as we build momentum and the rebuild of tourism to Vancouver. Please join us in welcoming our newest team members!
Natalia Welsh, External Relations Specialist
Natalia joins Destination Vancouver as one of two new External Relations Specialists. These roles support our Travel Trade and Media teams in promoting our destination to our trade and media audiences. Natalia has a Graduate Certificate in Tourism Management from Royal Roads University and five years of experience working in the tourism industry – including Tour & Travel and training experience with Club Intrawest. Natalia has strong communication and organizational skills and is fluent in Spanish.
Gia Borja, External Relations Specialist
Gia graduated with a Bachelor of Tourism Management from Capilano University and has a diverse range of experience within our industry - including time at the Listel Hotel, FlyOver Canada, and most recently, Discover Holidays. Gia brings strong product knowledge, customer service skills and an eagerness to learn. She will be supporting both the Travel Trade and Media Teams to share the best of Vancouver with our respective audiences. Travelling is a passion of hers and she is excited to promote our beautiful city!

Air Canada is expanding services from YVR
As travel measures ease and more people consider their next trip from YVR, Air Canada announced an impressive roster of new flights and the return of familiar favourites across North America and Europe.
Flights include new nonstop service to Austin and Halifax. Air Canada is also restoring service to Anchorage, Boston, Quebec City, Sacramento and Yellowknife, as well as Dublin, Frankfurt and Zurich. We’re thrilled to see these 10 destinations added to our network here at YVR, offering our community even more options for travel over the summer.

Are you interested in additional advertising opportunities for your business on destinationvancouver.com? We continue to provide ad-unit sales to members through our partner, Destination Travel Network. Their annual sales calls resume this spring and members may be receiving an email or phone call from "DTN" in the coming weeks as part of this program.
As you may already know, DTN is our digital partner that works with destination marketing organizations like ours to produce and publish paid content on our site and to help move website visitors to become customers for our members. With DTN’s help, we’ve put together a small selection of paid content placements on DestinationVancouver.com that we believe will help get your message in front of more of our visitor audience and to send more of those visitors to your website.
