Destination Vancouver is pleased to present our forecast report for the next week. From September 19 to 25, there will be 17 cruise ships arriving at the Port of Vancouver along with a significant increase in passengers. However, the number of known meetings & events will decline compared to this current week, resulting in a drop in the total number of meeting delegates. Overall, air bookings for arrival to Vancouver in the next week are expected to drop as well compared to this week.

This year, World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27, 2022. This Day of Recognition celebrated across the globe recognizes the importance of tourism and hospitality industry and is brought forward by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The theme for this year is “Rethinking Tourism”. go2HR and the Canadian Mental Health Association – BC Division (CMHA BC) seeks to do just that: taking a closer look at our fast-paced sector and sparking dialogue on what strategies can support and celebrate this industry’s ongoing resilience.

Vancouver will be sharing a booth with Tourism Whistler at the show to promote Vancouver as a top travel destination in Canada for High Value Guests. Krista Alcazar will attend on behalf of Destination Vancouver.

Destination Canada Business Events - Canada Week London
September 19-23, 2022 I London, England
The Destination Canada Business Events team is leading three in-market client events; a signature VIP event in partnership with the High Commission of Canada as well as two separate client events focused on the incentive market. Lois Wallis, Destination Vancouver's London based in-market representative, will be setting up individual client appointments for Vancouver. Lois Wallis and Dave Gazley will be leading for Vancouver.

World Meeting Forum 2022 "Believe in Meetings"
August 29 - September 1, 2022 | Los Cabos
World Meetings Forum 2022 celebrated 10 years of partnerships, commitment, hard work, dedication and passion for the meetings industry. Four important aspects were integrated into the events:
Culture - generating a high level of educational content. Connections - networking throughout the forum. Closing – tabletop one on one appointments with hosted buyers/clients. Purpose - the power of the MICE industry´s partnerships both national and international. This year’s theme, “Believe in Meetings”, emphasized that this is the time to believe in the future of the MICE industry. This was Destination Vancouver’s third time attending this very worthwhile event. It will be in our plans for 2023.
