Vancouver selected as host city for IUTOX 2028
Destination Vancouver is thrilled to announce that Vancouver has been selected as the host city for the 18th International Congress of Toxicology in 2028 which will bring together 1500 toxicologists from around the world to Vancouver to learn the latest developments in toxicological science and regulation through general scientific sessions and continuing education classes.
The International Union of Toxicology’s (IUTOX) mission is to improve human health through the science and practice of toxicology world-wide, and fosters international scientific cooperation for the global acquisition and utilization of knowledge in toxicology and the toxicological issues that face humankind.
Congratulations to all of the Meetings & Conventions team members who put together the winning bid to secure this future business for our destination. You can view a recorded address from The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Federal Minister of Health that was shared at the 16th International Congress currently being held in Maastricht, The Netherlands, here.

BUSINESS INSIGHTS
|
|
According to our next weekly forecast, September 26 to October 2, there will be 13 cruise ships arriving at the Port of Vancouver along with nine known convention meetings. In addition, the Vancouver Convention Centre will be hosting SHUX’22 – a large consumer trade show focused on board games.
We are seeing a decrease in overall hotel demand and air bookings compared to the current week. This is the second consecutive week where a double-digit drop in week over week air bookings has been observed - perhaps a signal that we are at the end of summer peak season and the beginning of fall seasonal demand.
