Destination Vancouver is pleased to announce two new additions to our Meetings, Conventions and Events team
Rohaan Sethna – Director, Destination Events
Joining us on October 17, Rohaan comes to Destination Vancouver from our partners at BC Place where he was Manager, Event Sales and Corporate Partnerships. He has a strong mix of event skills, sales, partner and client relationships, along with deep operational experience. Rohaan has worked on everything from world tour concerts to major fundraisers to large scale consumer and trade shows. He also has a solid international sport event background and a strong relationship with the Sport Hosting Vancouver team. Prior to BC Place, Rohaan worked with TTG Partnerships (formerly the Twenty Ten Group), a strategic marketing and sponsorship agency that was created after their work on the 2010 games. Rohaan’s role was Manager, Partnership Strategy and Client Service with a focus on sport.
Rohaan has an MBA from the Sauder School of Business at UBC, specializing in Marketing and Operations. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Management, graduating with distinction from the Jai Hind College, Mumbai University in India.
Luke Snyder – Manager, Meeting and Convention Sales, Canada & International
Also joining us on October 17, Luke’s main priority will be the Canadian corporate market. He will also support the work of our in-market business development manager in Mexico. As momentum for business events continues to build around the world, Luke will take on selective opportunities in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia and China. Luke has been working in sales, marketing and operations with The Adventure Group (TAG) in Whistler, continually growing his responsibilities there over his tenure. He has also worked closely with members and our partners at Tourism Whistler.
Luke has an Advanced Diploma in Sport Management from Durham College and is originally from Kingston, Ontario.

BUSINESS INSIGHTS

For the upcoming week's forecast, October 3 to 9, there will be six cruise ships arriving at the Port of Vancouver; along with a decrease in the total number of cruise passengers compared to the current week as the number of cruise ship arrivals will drop compared to the current week. A total of 11 known convention meetings are coming up next week. Total air bookings and hotel demand will drop for a second consecutive week as we head into the fall season.

Call for Proposals – NRCan’s ISO 50001 Financial Assistance Program for Buildings - Improve Energy Efficiency, Reduce Costs, Reduce GHG Emissions - Apply by October 21st, 2022.
Natural Resources Canada’s ISO 50001 Financial Assistance Program for Buildings is accepting project proposals from organizations looking to improve energy efficiency in their buildings. Submit your project proposal by October 21, 2022.
Funding is available to help commercial and institutional building owners and operators implement the ISO 50001 energy management system standard. Organizations that have implemented ISO 50001 in their buildings save energy and money, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The funding will be used to reimburse eligible project costs as follows:
- Eligible for-profit organizations may receive up to 60% of eligible costs
- Eligible not-for-profit organizations may receive up to 75% of eligible costs
- Maximum of $40,000 per building
- The maximum contribution to an organization or group of affiliates is $200,000 per fiscal year (April 1 to March 31)
Eligible project expenditures include salaries and benefits, professional, scientific, and technical fees specific to the energy management system, fees for data collection, benchmarking and analysis services, purchasing metering equipment, as well as other expenditures directly related to the project.
