We are excited to announce Meghan Feldstein is Vancouver’s new Manager, Meeting and Convention Sales, Chicago Midwest. This position is based in-market in the Chicago metro area, Meghan’s hometown. Meghan joins the team as of March 13 with a full orientation week in Vancouver.
Meghan has over 10 years sales experience in the hospitality industry, starting her career with Hiltons hotels of Chicago. She then joined the team at Choose Chicago for over 5 years, starting in a sales coordinator role and moving her way up to national sales manager. From there Meghan moved to the Hawaii Convention Centre/Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau as a regional director of accounts. Her most recent role has been with Freeman based in Chicago.
Also, very pleased to announce that Idy Wong has been promoted to Manager, Meeting and Convention Sales, Western US. Idy starts her new role as of today, March 1.

Results from the Membership Satisfaction Pulse Check
Destination Vancouver surveys our members twice a year through a Pulse Check each summer and winter. The last Pulse Check was this past December and top-level results will now be shared with members after each survey.
Highlights:
- Most helpful programs and initiatives were sharing of business insights to support business decisions (67%).
- The most important things that Destination Vancouver can do over the coming six months include advocating to all levels of government on issues of importance to our industry (including public safety) and promoting Vancouver as a top-of-mind destination for meetings and events, as well as leisure travel.
- Overall member satisfaction stood at 83%.

BUSINESS INSIGHTS

|
From March 6 to 12, there are four known convention meetings/events on the books, with Vancouver Cocktail Week going on as well. In addition, two more meetings will be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre during the same period: F2F Tour Championship and CUPE Women’s Conference. We are seeing a significant increase in air bookings from all markets along with an increase in hotel bookings for the next week compared to the current week.

Prince of Whales Contributes $30,000 to Ocean Wise’s Initiative to Promote the Recovery of Endangered Whale Populations
Funding from Prince of Whales will directly support the conservation and recovery of at-risk whale species by providing baseline data on their winter distribution, abundance, and diet. This information will be made available for the purpose of informing fisheries management decisions and recovery actions, as well as prioritizing targeted salmon conservation efforts. The results of this study will aid in future conservation efforts in the hope of protecting and recovering the amazing cetaceans of the Salish Sea.

Vancouver’s top female tourism and hospitality leaders will share inspiring ideas with the intention of sparking dialogue about issues that impact women in the workplace. Travel Gossip Canada Evening

Destination Vancouver will once again be joining Destination Canada and Canadian partners for a Canada evening with Travel Gossip consisting of networking and product training with 100 travel agents from the Manchester area. Michael Brabin will attend on behalf of Destination Vancouver.

Destination Vancouver will be participating in this kick-off event with a full day to inform, inspire and educate women in the UK MICE industry. Lois Wallis (UK In-market representative) will be leading this initiative on behalf of Destination Vancouver.

Event aimed at bringing the global events industry to the U.S. Capital region and consolidating several important annual gatherings into one week. Destination Vancouver is a partner/sponsor for both the IAEE Women’s Leadership Forum and the PCMA Visionary Awards. Jackie Kavcak will be leading this initiative on behalf of Destination Vancouver.

SXSW® is best known for its conference and festivals that celebrate the convergence of tech, film, music, education, and culture. The Frontier Collective’s Vancouver’s Takeover at SXSW on March 12, 2023 is a signature event (Destination Vancouver is a sponsor) that will boost Vancouver as the Innovation and Creative Tech leader on the world stage, with the aim to accelerate economic development and investment for our tech sector. Royce Chwin and Rohaan Sethna will be leading this initiative on behalf of Destination Vancouver.
