DESTINATION VANCOUVER NEWS
|
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure
Destination Vancouver thanked in an academic Journal of Water & Health, the official journal of the World Health Organization and the International Water Association.
This journal article was written by city of Vancouver engineers who implemented the cooling tower registry and reporting requirements in 2020/21 for the City of Vancouver. Destination Vancouver along with the Vancouver Tourism Facility Managers Association supported the outreach, education and consultation as this policy was developed and implemented. The journal describes how the registry and testing reporting requirements enabled the city to proactively detect exceedances of Legionella pneumofila in 30 towers (5.4%) in Vancouver and follow cleaning & disinfection protocols. This is a good example of the destination working together collaboratively to safeguard our resident and visitor wellbeing.
