BUSINESS INSIGHTS

Destination Vancouver is pleased to present our forecast report for the next week, from June 26 to July 2.  A total of 15 cruise ships will be arriving with an estimated 48K passengers. We have one business meeting on the books from our CRM. We are seeing a decrease in hotel bookings for the next week compared to the current week, but an increase in air bookings from all markets.

A free shuttle is available from Canada Place to Stanley Park Pavilion at 4:15 PM and 4:45 PM and from Stanley Park Pavilion to Canada Place at 6:15 PM and 6:45 PM.

National Indigenous Peoples Day

On June 21, Canada marks National Indigenous Peoples Day to recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations.

Reconciliation is an on-going process, not a destination. Each time as individuals and organizations we support Indigenous-owned or managed businesses, visit cultural attractions, or attend events and deepen our understanding of Indigenous art, history and culture, it is a step on that journey. The City of Vancouver's website has resources to help you learn more.

Granville Street Planning - Phase one survey

Help the City of Vancouver create a new plan for Granville Street that reimagines the future of Vancouver's entertainment district and premier main street as an exciting, welcoming, safe, and inclusive downtown destination that is alive with activity 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week/ 365 days a year.

The survey will take 10-12 minutes to complete and is open until June 30.

BCHF - Spirit of Hospitality Online Lottery - Donation Request

The British Columbia Hospitality Foundation in partnership with the Hotel Association Vancouver are introducing The Spirit of Hospitality Lottery to support ongoing initiatives. To date, the lottery has generated in excess of $200,000. Running from October 27 to November 12 the lottery's list of prizing will include curated packages that create wonderful experiences that exemplify the spirit of hospitality. Prize donations can include complimentary overnight stays, transportation, admission to attractions, and more. Organizations that donate will be promoted via social channels across British Columbia starting in August. If you wish to support the BCHF by donating a prize, please complete the donation form by July 12, 2023.

The City of Vancouver is leading engagement for The Jericho Lands. The planning program is a comprehensive process which will create a policy statement to guide future development. The planning program will explore priorities including: 

  •  Ways to advance our collective work toward reconciliation
  •  Creating a complete community with a range of housing options with different income levels and tenures and more

This sales trip will also include agency appointments in Birmingham June 27 and the Micebook Awards night June 29. Lois Wallis and Dave Gazley will be leading this initiative on behalf of Destination Vancouver.
