HMI Gala
Last week in Montreal, Destination Vancouver attended the HMI Gala to celebrate their 18th anniversary and connect with our incredible partners and clients in the meeting and event planning industry. Luke Snyder of Destination Vancouver attended the event, and was on stage to present a draw prize to one lucky winner.

Airport Roundtable Series Takes Place in Canada for the First Time
This week, Vancouver Airport Authority, Destination Vancouver, Destination BC, and the Vancouver Hotel Destination Association welcome airlines and industry professionals to Vancouver for the Airport Roundtable Conference. Held for the first time in Canada, the event promotes continued air service development for Vancouver and for communities throughout BC.

BUSINESS INSIGHTS
|
|
From September 18 to 24, we have 14 cruise ships scheduled for arrival with around 56K passengers estimated. There are ten meetings on the books, along with three more events at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
There will also be two citywide impact events in the city during the same time period including:
- Trident8 Limited - 2023 Laver Cup, September 22-24 at Rogers Arena.
- Live Nation Canada - Coldplay: Music Of The Spheres World Tour, September 22-23 at BC Place.
We are seeing increases in both hotel bookings and overall air bookings for next week compared to the current week.

This global event is organized locally by a coalition of civil society organizations who are encouraging young people, students, parents, teachers and community members to participate in the Global Climate Strike on unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) lands / Vancouver.
The organizers are planning to gather at Vancouver City Hall at 1 pm and march at 1:30 pm over the Cambie bridge, through downtown and finish at the Vancouver Art Gallery at 3 pm for speakers, performances, and activities.

This ASAE event is exclusively created and designed for association CEOs, providing opportunities to network, learn, and discuss critical issues facing associations today. This annual event allows each participating destination partner to host three top ASAE clients. Vancouver is very pleased to partner with three citywide clients; Entomological Society of America, Geological Society of America and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. Dave Gazley will be leading this initiative on behalf of Destination Vancouver.

To ensure alignment between Destination Canada Business Events and industry, the mandate of this advisory committee is to provide strategic advice and counsel to Destination Canada management and Board. The Committee helps inform and provide input relating to key insights, program opportunities, market strategies, and trends relating to business events. Dave Gazley is a long-time member of this committee on behalf of Destination Vancouver and Vancouver, having acted as Chair 2017-2019.
