Dine Out Vancouver Festival
Restaurant Registration is NOW OPEN! Season 22: January 17 – February 04, 2024
Destination Vancouver is excited to move forward with plans for the 22nd anniversary of Dine Out Vancouver Festival for Winter 2024!
Last season, Dine Out Vancouver Festival attracted over 460,000 seated diners generating in excess of $27 million in revenue to restaurants.
Destination Vancouver will be investing in marketing and promotion of the festival with a digital and traditional media campaign which generates media reach to an audience in excess of 84.5 million.
Below are important key dates:
- Registration Deadline: Friday, October 20, 2023
- Menu / Offer Upload Deadline: Friday, December 8, 2023
- Restaurant Reveal and Reservations Live: Tuesday, January 9, 2024
- Dine Out Vancouver Festival: January 17 - February 04, 2024
- Registration Fee: $300 plus GST

Destination Vancouver and 20 member partners will bring a fresh, Vancouver perspective to IMEX America next month in Las Vegas. From October 17 – 19, Team Vancouver will participate in formal in-person meetings and informal networking opportunities to showcase our city to the global business events community. We look forward to connecting with meeting planners, association executives, event agency leaders, and incentive travel buyers to bring the world to Vancouver.

BUSINESS INSIGHTS

From October 2 to 8, ten cruise ships will be arriving with over 56K passengers. There are eleven meetings on the books, along with three concerts at Rogers Arena:
- Live Nation Canada - Iron Maiden: The Future Past Tour 2023, Oct 2.
- Live Nation Canada - Morgan Wallen: One Night At A Time World Tour, Oct 3 - 4.
- Live Nation Canada - Peter Gabriel: i/o - The Tour, Oct 7.
The 2023 VIFF (Vancouver International Film Festival) will continue until Oct 8th. We are seeing a moderate change in total hotel bookings and overall air bookings for next week compared to the current week.

Event Producer RFP
DOVF organizers invite external “Event Producers” to coordinate and submit an event under the Dine Out Vancouver Festival umbrella. If you are interested, there are a number of criteria that must be followed for DOVF brand integrity and for a seamless execution of the overarching guest experience.
Please review the attached RFP for additional information.
SUBMISSION PROCESS:

- Complete the Event Submission Form
- Ensure you select “Dine Out Vancouver Festival” as the ‘event-category’.

Tourism Sustainability Playbook launch
Vancouver Coast and Mountains Region (VCM) Sustainable Tourism Advisory Council has been working to develop the Sustainability Playbook was published in July and can be downloaded here.
This is a fantastic resource for Destinations and tourism businesses in our community to get started on developing sustainability plans or referencing existing plans.

Notice of Provincial single-use plastic waste prevention regulation
The Single-Use and Plastic Waste Prevention Regulation provides a framework to phase out certain single-use plastic items, as well as address waste and pollution in B.C.
Review the guidance for each of the 4 regulated categories:
The regulation will come into effect on Dec. 20, 2023.

Canadian Mental Health Association BC
Call to participate in a short survey on workplace mental health, from the Canadian Mental Health Association in BC (CMHA BC).
CMHA BC is conducting this survey to inform the development of our latest enhanced training initiative for workplace mental health. We want to know what managers and employers need when it comes to supporting employees experiencing mental health challenges at work, and how we can help!
The information collected in this survey will help CMHA BC design highly relevant, free, and accessible mental health training, tools, and resources for managers of small to mid-sized businesses to better support employees experiencing mental health challenges.
All folks are welcome to take the survey. It’s approx. 7-10 mins long and all answers are kept anonymous and confidential. Participants have the chance to enter a draw at the end of the survey to win a free iPad, all personal information is stored separately from survey responses to maintain confidentiality.

Air Canada Singapore Sales Mission
September 25-30, 2023 | Singapore
Air Canada is launching a new flight from Singapore to Vancouver, starting in April 2024. In preparation for the launch, Air Canada has invited Destination Vancouver to participate in a sales mission in-market. The new Air Canada service further positions Vancouver as their trans-Pacific hub and a pivotal stop connecting Canada, North America, and Asia. The purpose of the trip is to support Air Canada and YVR and find opportunities together to develop and cultivate this high potential market. Krista Alcazar will be attending on behalf of Destination Vancouver.

PCMA Partnership Summit
September 28-October 1 | Panama City
The Professional Convention and Management Association Partnership Summit is an event that features executive level education and VIP relationship-building opportunities. Jackie Kavcak will be leading this initiative on behalf of Destination Vancouver.

Toronto Sales Mission and Client Event
October 3-5, 2023 | Toronto
Vancouver will host M&C client events in Mississauga and downtown Toronto, and sales meetings with key corporate and association third party agencies. Michael Drake, Luke Snyder, and Morgan Da Rocha will be leading this initiative on behalf of Destination Vancouver.

Destination Canada Business Events National Advisory Committee

To ensure alignment between Destination Canada Business Events and industry, the mandate of this advisory committee is to provide strategic advice and counsel to Destination Canada management and Board. The Committee helps inform and provide input relating to key insights, program opportunities, market strategies, and trends relating to business events. Dave Gazley is a long-time member of this committee on behalf of Destination Vancouver and Vancouver, having acted as Chair 2017-2019.
