Vancouver Confirmed as FIFA World Cup 2026 Candidate Host City
We are pleased to share that last week FIFA announced Vancouver as an official candidate host city vying to host matches during the FIFA World Cup 2026. Following the submission of many materials, including our demonstrated hotel capacity and commitments in Metro Vancouver, FIFA has agreed to accept the city’s candidacy.
This is the first step towards securing matches during the FIFA World Cup 2026 for Vancouver. Being a Candidate Host City means Vancouver enters the list of cities across Canada, USA and Mexico who are looking to secure one of the final 16 Official Host City appointments. FIFA will ultimately decide the 16 cities who will be hosts for the matches in 2026, and we expect that decision will be made and shared in the coming weeks.
