Vancouver’s spring/summer campaign is now launched and is promoting Vancouver to BC, Alberta, and Ontario audiences, as well as to Washington State.
Members are invited to become familiar with the promotion and to also review the new campaign toolkit for more information on how to support and leverage the campaign. Please view the Member Toolkit.

Destination Vancouver has a new VP, Global Marketing
Destination Vancouver is pleased to announce that Stefan Hawes is joining the organization as VP, Global Marketing, effective June 1 (today!).
Stefan comes to Destination Vancouver with a solid combination of leadership, practical skillsets and global experience – the coveted mix needed for this role.
His career trajectory has been largely through the agency world including stints with Wasserman + Partners, DDB Canada, Tribal DDB San Francisco, TBWA, and Blast Radius Amsterdam. And he’s worked with a diverse roster of international clients like Nike, Proctor and Gamble, Sony Pictures, Destination BC, Tourism Yukon, Melco China Resorts, Microsoft, Michelin, and the Vancouver International Film Festival.
Holding senior positions from president to general manager to freelance consultant, and with other key roles in between, Stefan’s strategic thinking has been matched with execution across every creative and content arena, all focussed on client and partnership building and retention.
And although he’s lived globally, Stefan’s a Vancouverite through and through, with a great passion for our city.

Canada vs. Panama, June 5 - Get Tickets
Canada vs. Curaçao, June 9 - Get Tickets
Canada Soccer has announced that our Men’s National Team will host Panama, this Sunday 5 June at BC Place, as part of their preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
And this is your chance to Alphonso Davies’ first match in Vancouver in a Canada jersey!
All tickets in the lower bowl for the Canada vs. Panama match are priced at $30 to thank Canadian fans for their support and provide an opportunity to celebrate Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team’s qualification for Qatar 2022.
This will mark Canada’s first home match since qualifying for Qatar 2022 after finishing first overall in the Concacaf Final Round.
Canada then hosts Curaçao on Thursday 9 June before travelling to Honduras at Estadio Olimpico in San Pedro Sula.

BUSINESS INSIGHTS

Destination Vancouver is pleased to present our forecast report for the next two weeks. From May 30 to June 12, there will be 25 cruise ships arriving at the Port of Vancouver and there will have 13 meetings and conventions coming up along with one special events. We'll see a 18% increase in Downtown Vancouver Hotel Bookings and 21% growth in overall air bookings comparing to the previous two weeks, with a significant increase in US and overseas air bookings.

In Q1 2022, we welcomed over 1.1 million overnight visitors to Vancouver. This compares to just over 360,000 in Q1 last year (2021), and 1.9 million overnight visitors in Q1 2019. During this time in Q1 2022, 73% of overnight visitors were domestic, 18% from the US and the remaining 9% from international overseas. Within the international overseas market, UK and Mexico generated the most visitors during Q1 2022 (UK visitation back at 67% of 2019 levels, Mexico at 56% of 2019 levels).
