RESEARCH AND BUSINESS ANALYTICS
|
SKIFT Research - A Consumer Perspective on Sustainability
The latest global research from Skift suggests that sustainability has become a much more important consideration for travellers choice of destination post-COVID. In general, higher income earners are more likely to choose businesses that adopt and prioritize sustainable business practices, and also more likely to be willing to pay higher prices for products/services that are environmentally responsible and sustainable. This includes approximately 32% of travellers in the US, 34% in the UK, 31% Australia and 63% in China indicating a willingness to pay more for sustainable travel services.
Source: Skift Research
Most of these travellers are willing to pay an extra 2-10% of the total cost. However, it is also notable that trust and greenwashing is a concern for customers; with independent 3rd party certification being of importance to demonstrate that businesses are sustainable and up to standard.

Prince of Whales hosts "Cinema OnBoard" during Victoria Film Festival
At this year's VFF, Prince of Whales' catamaran, The Sale Sea Eclipse has been turned into 'Cinema OnBoard' - an intimate theatre venue, which will feature programming each evening this week including "Welcome to the Metaverse" by documentary filmmaker, Brett Gaylor. On Saturday they sponsored the film “Last of the Right Whales” in the largest theatre of the festival. They also hosted a pre-film “Truth or Tales?” trivia game with contestants from the audience on stage vying to answer fun whale-based trivia questions . Contestants had to buzz in and the buzzers featured whale sounds.
Located in the heart of Victoria’s iconic inner harbour, it’s a great opportunity to showcase our gorgeous vessel while providing an exciting “promo piece” to the festival, says Ian MacPhee, Sales & business Development Manager for Prince of Whales.
