BUSINESS RESOURCES & ADVOCACY
|
|
Destination BC has developed a water conservation tourism industry tool kit to help with communications during drought - a relevant piece for the ongoing challenges around the province.
Here in Metro Vancouver the water restrictions are at stage 2 since August 4th.
- All lawn watering is prohibited
- Trees, shrubs, and flowers can be watered by hand or using soaker hoses or drip irrigation at any time, or by using a sprinkler between 5:00 and 9:00 am any day
- Vegetable gardens can be watered at any time
- Aesthetic water features, such as fountains, cannot be filled or topped up
- Washing impermeable surfaces like driveways and sidewalks is prohibited except in limited circumstances
The new drought tool kit includes official resources, and suggested actions & messaging for BC tourism industry partners to help champion responsible water usage. It is accessible on the Emergency Preparedness page of Destination BC’s website.
For further resources check out Metro Vancouver’s We Love Water conservation tips website.
