The 2023 cruise season is nearing its end for this year. From October 9 to 15, we have two cruise ships scheduled for arrival. There are thirteen meetings in the books, along with one other event at the Vancouver Convention Centre: the Indigenous Child & Family Services Directors Conference, from October 15 to 18. There will be one concert at Rogers Arena next week: Live Nation Canada – Joji – Pandemonium – Fall North American Tour, on October 13.
We are seeing decreases in both hotel and air bookings for next week compared to the current week, which may be due to the coming shoulder season.

Destination Vancouver’s President and CEO speaks to the Globe and Mail to address Vancouver’s hotel shortage situation and its implications on tourism. According to Destination Vancouver’s Economic Analysis, the demand for hotel rooms in the city of Vancouver will exceed supply and continue to grow by an average 2.7 percent a year – with nearly 14 million overnight visitors expected by 2050. Should the hotel-room shortage persist until 2050, the city will have forgone $31-billion in revenue, $8-billion in taxes and nearly 170,000 jobs. Read the full article at here.
